A request for Donations

We recently received an email through Etsy asking if we would consider donating one of our receiving blankets to a fundraising event called A Night at the Races to be held on April 24th in Pittsburgh PA for the Susan G Komen foundation. We said yes!

We think it'll be this one that we donate, but are also considering sending a set. But it has to be something gender neutral.

If you are in the are in the area (Pittsburg) and happen to be attending, we would love to know how the whole thing turns out! :) You can also check it out here: http://www.bradmanzer.com/Night_at_the_Races/Welcome.html

Recently, with the turmoil in Haiti, a local quilting guild decided to make some quilts to donate. For those of us with little money and a lot of fabric, this felt like something we could do to help.

We (The Chicks) decided that we would stick with 6 inch squares.

Once we had them cut, we made nine-patch squares, and then sewed 4 of those together.

It is a basic, small quilt, but could be a great comfort when you are little and scared. In the end we got 6 quilts.
Here are 2 more color combinations we chose.

The hardest thing is choosing boy patterns. There are a million, pink girlie girl designs, but need something for a boy? Good luck!! We were lucky enough to find 3 combinations that worked.

We know it's not much, but it is all we can do at the moment. Unfortunately the hardest part isn't gathering and finishing quilts, its how we are going to get them all down there. We find out tomorrow what our options are. Until then we keep sewing!!
